When buying a Micro SD card you need the right type, speed class and capacity for your device. Below is a handy guide for finding the right memory card.
In general bigger is better when it comes to capacity however this can depend on the limitation of your device.
Card Speed Class:
There are four standard speed classes (2, 4, 6 & 10) with class 10 being the fastest. Class 2 is suitable for standard definition recording. Class 4 and 6 cards are suitable for high-definition video recording while speed class 10 is suitable for full HD video recording.
UHS Speed Class (Ultra High Speed) is currently the fastest speed class on the market today. UHS 1 (U1) will have a minimum read/write speed of 10MB/s and is recommended for 2K video recording. UHS 3 (U3) has a minimum speed of 30MB/s and is designed for 4K video recording. Faster card speeds improve performance during HD and 4K video and RAW and high-resolution image recording. Your device will need to support the required speed class.
The original Micro SD card format had a maximum capacity of 2GB. Micro SDHC cards were the first additional format which supported up to 32GB capacity. Micro SDXC was introduced to extend the card capacity upwards of 32GB. Your device will need to support SDHC or SDXC to be compatible. Most devices should support these formats. With the addition of an SD adapter you can use your card in all computer/electronic devices that support SD cards.
