Does this portable storage drive plug directly into a 2.0 USB port, as I dont have USB 3.0 on my old machine?

Yes. This Adata rugged drive can plug into a USB 2.0 port, however the transfer speed will just be limited to that of the USB 2.0

You guys are amazing! I placed the order on Sunday afternoon at 12:55 pm. I received an email on Monday morning at 8:39 am telling me my order was ready to be despatched. Just before 4:00pm that same day (Monday) the courier delivered my parcel, and I live in Christchurch. It was packaged perfectly and wasn't damaged in any way. I unpacked the item (UPS), plugged it in and was up and running again with zero problems. Then I checked my email again and was advised by Nick that the freight charge that I had paid was more than expected and that I was being refunded some money! That is incredible!
