The EliteConnectWireless Access Point (SMCE21011) is based on IEEE 802.11n draft 2.0 standard. It offers data rates of up to 300Mbps either in the 2.4GHz or 5GHz frequency band. The dual-band, single radio Wireless Access Point uses MIMO technology to provide robust and high performance data transmission and increase wireless coverage for enterprise networks.
Supporting up to eight Virtual Access Point (VAP) interfaces, the SMCE21011 allows traffic to be separated for different user groups within the same access point service area. Each VAP can be configured with its own Service Set Identification (SSID), security settings, VLAN assignments, and other parameters.
It comes with three detachable dual-band antennas to provide optimal wireless coverage and support for IEEE802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) to allow Wi-Fi deployment where power outlets are not available. Using Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM), the access point is able to prioritize traffic and optimize performance when multiple applications compete for wireless network bandwidth at the same time. WMM employs techniques that are a subset of the developing IEEE 802.11e QoS standard and it enables the access point to inter operate with both WMM- enabled
clients and other devices that may lack any WMM functionality.
SMCE21011 complies to IEEE802.11h Regulatory Domain Selection to prevent 5GHz interference with satellites and radar through Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) and Transmit Power Control (TPC)
